Making Address Handling Smarter: A Step Toward Smoother, More Accurate Deliveries

Alara Ateş

At Urbify, we’re always looking for ways to make deliveries more efficient, more accurate, and less of a hassle, for both our partners and their customers. In our latest update, we’ve introduced a feature that targets one of the most common and frustrating issues in logistics: incomplete or incorrect addresses.

Our updated system now automatically detects and corrects mismatched address details, particularly cases where the postcode doesn’t match the street and house number. This reduces delays, avoids manual corrections, and helps ensure every delivery reaches the right place the first time.

📍 Why It Matters

Incorrect address details are one of the most common causes of failed or delayed deliveries. Sometimes the street name and house number are correct, but the postcode isn’t - or vice versa. These small mismatches create unnecessary manual work, delay orders, and occasionally send couriers to the wrong end of a city.

With this update, we’ve introduced smart, automatic postcode correction to improve delivery accuracy at the source.

🔄 How It Works

When an address is submitted with inconsistent details—like the correct street but an incorrect postcode—our system automatically corrects the postcode based on the full combination of street, number, and city.

For example:

Input:

Autocorrected to:

The correction happens at the moment of import, helping us eliminate errors before they affect routing, timing, or delivery performance.

🔐 Transparency Built In

We believe automation should never mean losing visibility. That’s why we’ve added features to make the correction process transparent:

  • Autocorrected addresses are clearly marked in the dashboard
  • You can sort tasks by autocorrection status to quickly review them
  • The original, customer-provided address is still visible via tooltip

These small touches make it easy for operations teams to spot-check and confirm addresses, without digging through event logs or performing manual lookups.

💡 Learning from Past Corrections

If an address has been manually corrected before, our system now remembers that correction. The next time the same (incorrect) address is submitted, it will automatically apply the saved, verified version—without requiring any intervention.

This makes future imports smoother and reduces the chance of repeat issues.

🚚 Why It Helps Everyone

For partners, this means:

  • Fewer failed deliveries due to typos or mismatches
  • Less time spent on manual address corrections
  • Smoother operations and cleaner routing

For customers, this means:

  • Fewer delays or surprises
  • Better delivery experience
  • More confidence when ordering

🧪 We’re Still Iterating

As with all improvements, we’ll be monitoring how this works in practice and listening to your feedback. Our goal is to improve accuracy without adding friction, and this feature is one more step toward a more reliable, scalable last-mile experience.

We’re already seeing early improvements in address data quality and we’re excited to keep building on this.

📬 Have feedback or edge cases to share?

We’d love to hear from you. As always, thanks for being part of a smarter, more accurate delivery network.
